Arrivals and departures: customers will be able to check their flight times on their mobiles
United offers mobile service
UNITED Airlines has become one of the first airlines to offer its passengers the chance to check flight arrival and departure information from their mobile phones.Passengers using an SMS phone, which are mobiles that can send and receive text messages, will be able to retrieve gate information, delay and cancellation notification and on-time status in advance of their departure time.
To set up the service, travellers need to enter the paging number 07769 666644 into their phone and list it in the memory as UA Flights. Then they need to enter, as text, the flight number they wish to enquire about and send it to their own mobile number. They will receive information via a text message telling them their departure gate details and any flight changes three hours before scheduled departure.
For arrivals, this information is sent one hour before arrival. The service is free and available for flights up to seven days in advance. The same information can be received by checking the airline’s Web site at www.unitedairlines.co.uk.
