A thanksgiving service for former British Caledonian Airways chairman Sir Adam Thomson CBE will take place at St Clement Danes, Central Church of the Royal Air Force, The Strand, London WC2 on Tuesday September 5 at 11am. n correction over ABTA’s expense bill


ABTA’s total expense bill in the 12 months to July last year was £272,182, an increase over the previous year of £33,763, not £98,528 as printed in the July 24 edition of Travel Weekly.


n preview travel adopts X-TANT system


Preview Travel has signed a deal with network provider X-TANT to use its new reservations system Traveleye. The system will be accessed by 100 users in Preview’s 16 outlets.


n West midlands travel takes up travelcat


West Midlands Co-op has agreed to use Leisure Network Solutions’ agency system TravelCat at its new £1 million call centre and 20 retail outlets.


n carnival flags up addition to fleet


Carnival Cruise Lines has taken delivery of the


2,758-passenger Carnival Victory, bringing its total fleet to 15. The new ship is due to depart on its maiden voyage, a two-night sea cruise, on August 18.


n thomascook.com agrees excite deal


Thomascook.com has signed a one-year deal with Internet portal Excite to provide it with travel content. Visitors to Excite’s travel channel will access a specially created joint Web site offeringon-line travel services. Thomascook.com has more than two million holidays on its books.
