n concorde flightsBritish Airways has axed three Concorde charter flights following mounting pressure on the airline’s scheduled service. A flight from Heathrow to Oshkosh near Chicago was cancelled on July 28 and two flights over the Atlantic by Flights of Fantasy operator Goodwood Travel were stopped on August 4 and 6. A BA spokeswoman said: “We are sorry we had to cancel Goodwood’s flights but our priority has to be the scheduled services to New York and Barbados.”
n star cruises float
Star Cruises is planning to float on a major stock exchange and issue new shares to raise cash. The Singapore-based company acquired Norwegian Cruise Line earlier this year and is in the process of expanding its fleet. Star Cruises is already listed on Singapore’s stock exchange.
n virgin meeting
ARTAC Worldchoice is to raise agents’ complaints at a meeting with Virgin Atlantic this month about the carrier’s decision to use a charter carrier on its Manchester-Orlando route (Travel Weekly July 31).

Russell Peake of Peakes Travel Market, Shrewsbury, has joined Jill Waite of Pole Travel as she steps up her battle against British Airways’ decision to axe commission. ABTA has 523 bookings for its Kos convention later this year. The association hopes that 2,000-2,500 delegates will attend.
