Ferry bosses to meet Customs
FERRY company bosses are to meet Customs and Excise officials on September 8 to discuss tax and duty-paid sales arrangements.Operators’ present system of only selling alcohol and tobacco outside UK waters is expected to be on the agenda. The regime, which has operated since the abolition of duty-free in June last year, is unpopular with the ferry industry.
Passenger Shipping Association director Bill Gibbons and UK Travel Retail Forum secretary-general Barry Goddard are due to attend the meeting.
