Olympic Holidays shapes up for sales growth
GREECE and Cyprus specialist Olympic Holidays has admitted it needs strong market conditions in 2001 if it wants to reach its growth target for the year. The operator is planning ambitious sales of 220,000 – up 50,000 on last year.
Launching its 2001 brochure, commercial director Photis Lambrianides said the target was ambitious and said the continual backing of agents was crucial.
“There will need to be demand and we need to have the capabilities of meeting it. We are confident on both counts,” he said.
He said the strength of sterling against the Greek drachma and Cypriot pound should ensure demand from the UK.
Much of the growth is expected to come via extra capacity from Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Newcastle, Glasgow and Belfast. Flights from Scotland and Ireland have been doubled. The number of hotels and apartments has risen by 10% while rooms in existing hotels have been increased. New product includes two all-inclusive hotels – the Lisa Mari Hotel in Crete and the Louis Zante Beach Hotel in Zakynthos – taking the total number to 23. Prices at the Louis Zante Beach start at £445 for one week. Offers include discounts of £150 per couple for bookings made before December 31.
