n gulf air operationGulf Air was continuing to operate its Airbus A320 aircraft as Travel Weekly went to press, following Wednesday’s crash which killed 143 people. Gulf Air airport manager at Heathrow Steve Lowes said: “The A320 is a reliable aircraft and unless investigators can find anything it will continue.”

n hilton profits fall
Hilton Group’s new chief executive David Michels has apologised to shareholders for not returning stronger results for the first half of the year. Profits for the group as a whole fell from £127.5 million for the first six months of last year to £108.8 million for the same period this year. But the hotel division, Hilton International, fared better following the integration and rebranding of the Stakis hotel chain in the UK and strong performance in mainland Europe. Profits increased from £105.9 million to £111 million in the same period.

ABTA claims registrations for this year’s convention in Kos from October 27-30 have hit 1,000 so far. This is a 100 more delegates than had registered for last year’s event in Cairns, Australia after the same number of days on sale.
