Partial rejig for Bakers Dolphin shops
A HANDFUL of Bakers Dolphin’s 79 shops are expected to be rebranded Travel Choice to allow the multiple to establish itself in the West Country. But Bakers Dolphin managing director Kevin Abbey said it was “extremely unlikely” that the whole chain would rebrand under its sister retailer’s name.
Both Travel Choice and Bakers Dolphin are owned by First Choice and Abbey said the chains had been discussing ways of working together in the future.
“In the big city centres Travel Choice has been very successful and we are considering converting a few Bakers Dolphin branches where it would add value,” he said.
“But we are only talking about a few and I would be very surprised if the Bakers Dolphin name disappeared.”
Abbey said the two retailers were already co-operating to make the business more efficient.
“We are sharing best practice with joint commercial deals, accounts, technology and human resources facilities and it’s just a case of looking at further co-operation. We haven’t yet got down to the detail of how that would work.”
