Canada 3000 to join Amex scheme

CANADA 3000 is to join American Express’ Membership Rewards programme which will provide UK customers with more than 40 selected worldwide destinations.From October 2, American Express cardholders enrolled in the loyalty scheme will be able to redeem points for destinations including Halifax in Nova Scotia, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Vancouver and Vienna.
The Toronto-based airline joins Continental Airlines and Delta as Membership Rewards partners, replacing Canadian Airlines, which cancelled its participation with Amex in April.
Canada 3000 president Angus Kinnear said: “This partnership is a great way for us to develop new relationships and strengthen existing ones with valued American Express customers.
“We believe this programme will be particularly popular with Amex Card members due to the ability to book last-minute seats.”
Customers signed up to American Express’ loyalty scheme can start redeeming points as soon as they have collected 20,000 points.
Canada 3000 flies to seven Canadian destinations from seven UK and Ireland airports.
Agents can book seats by calling 01293 813000 or through computer reservation systems under flight code T2.
Meanwhile, the airline claims to be “very pleased” with bookings following its Space Race promotion for travel agents and industry-related staff, which was launched at the start of the year.
Departures during September are being offered at £189 per person (a30% -50% reduction) to Toronto, Montreal, Halifax and Ottawa, from Gatwick, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham.
Flights to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton from Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow will cost £249.
Payments must be made by credit card only and bookings are non-refundable.
Agents wishing to take up the offer must call Canada 3000’s Space Race line on 01293 813007 between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am and 1.30pm on Saturday.
