Meon injects cash into Corfu after booming sales prediction
Report by STEVEJONES
MEON Villas has invested in house construction projects in Corfu after predicting it will become the boom villa destination next year.
It is featuring 12 new properties on the Greek island in its latest programme – an increase of 25% on last year.
The expansion will be met by investing in building projects in prime sites, mostly in the uncommercial northeast corner.
Marketing director Daisy Williams said: “Corfu is ripe for expansion to meet demand at the upper end of the market.”
She said the involvement in building projects will enable the company to have greater control over the product.
“In the past Corfu has not always been known for high-quality tourism, so Meon is keen to support projects which will benefit the bedstock at the quality end of the market,” said Williams.
Most of the operator’s new houses are based around Aghios Stefanos, where the operator already has two villas.
Elsewhere in the programme, new properties have been added on the Costa del Sol, Dordogne, Malta and Minorca – where a new flight departure from Norwich has been introduced.
Williams said: “This year’s lack of capacity prevented us selling many more packages to Costa del Sol and we have addressed this for next year with additional villas, particularly around Mijas.”
Flydrives to Tuscany have also been added following strong growth this year.
Meon Villas’ prices for 2001 start from £330 per person for one week’s holiday in the Algarve for travel between May 3 – 23, based on four sharing.
A range of early booking offers are available until November 30.
