Thomas Cook creates new roles in retail

THOMAS Cook has created a number of new positions at retail board level.

Among the appointments is an expanded role for retail operations director Manny Fontenla-Novoa under his new title of retail director.

As well as retaining responsibility for the current network of 750 high-street shops, he will now also run the day-to-day operations of the 117 standalone bureau de change offices, Teletext and Thomas Cook Direct.

A spokesman said: “Manny delivered productivity and profitability for the shop network and it made sense to bring the rest of the channels into his role.”

John Morris, previously responsible for the direct operation, takes the role of director of specialist travel services with emphasis on the independent traveller.

In a further change, marketing director Stephen Vowles takes responsibility for all marketing across the retail and direct businesses.
