The Globus Group has appointed Alister Beveridge as group information technology director following the departure of Jeff Roberts in June.The company, which owns Cosmos, Avro and Monarch recruited Beveridge from Hotelplan UK, wherehe was head of IT. He previously worked for Trailfinders. Roberts left Globus in what was described as a mutually agreed decision (Travel Weekly June 19).

Thomson Travel Group UK Distribution has promoted Paul Kendrick to the newly created post of new media director. Kendrick was formerly head of e-tail. He has worked at Thomson for six years.

&#42 foreign office urges vigilance in fiji

The Foreign Office is urging travellers to Fiji to register with the British High Commission in Suva on arrival at the destination. It believes there is a continuing risk of civil unrest in the country in the aftermath of an attempted coup in May and during the trials of the coup leader and his supporters. But it added there was little risk of unrest in Nadi and the holiday resort areas of western Viti Levu, where the situation remains calm.

Qantas today begins atwo-week Walkabout roadshow throughout UK and Ireland, with a series of trade evenings offering prizes for agents. To ensure tickets for each event, Qantas has attached Walkabout postcards onto advertisements in Travel Weekly. Travel agents should fill in the information on the back of postcards to receive invitations to the events or alternatively call the freephone number 0800 035 0438.
