&#42 Pearl axed from itt due to ‘role duplication’

The Institute of Travel and Tourism has made sales and promotions manager Stephen Pearl redundant. Executive director Brian Leeder said he had looked at the organisation’s structure and decided Pearl’s role was being duplicated by other staff. Pearl, who has worked at the ITT since 1991, said he intends to seek advice.

&#42 going places cuts cost of family deposits

Going Places has slashed family deposits on its summer 2001 holidays. Early bookers will be able to reserve holidays for £25, not the usual £99. It is also offering 100,000 free child places for breaks booked in the next fortnight.

&#42 urbanweb plans two new call centres

Urbanwebis opening two new call centres in Leeds and Cardiff, following the launch of its Manchester call centre a year ago. A new 200-strong centre is expected to be ready for business by November but the location has not yet been confirmed.

&#42 humphreys promoted to ba management role

British Airways has promoted Stephen Humphreys to the position of general manager corporate sales. Humphreys will report to BA head of UK and Ireland sales Tiffany Hall and replaces Niels Conradsen. He was previously BA regional general manager for the southwest Pacific.

&#42 LTBpublishes latest restaurant guide

The London Tourist Board has published its second annual restaurant guide to the capital aimed at overseas visitors. The number of restaurants featured in the Essential London Restaurant Guide 2000 is 215, up from 175 last year. The LTB has also revamped its Web site at: www.EatLondon.net.
