BUSINESS travel agency BTIUKis to put money into developing a training programme to help quell a shortage of qualified people in the industry.
BTI UK will fund development of an Institute of Travel Management course which will be aimed at corporate travel managers.
Participants will study skills such as negotiating deals, contract management and implementing travel policy.
Once completed, they will be awarded the ITM Professional Development Award Certificate.
BTIUKbusiness services director Kevin Ruffles said: “We have long recognised that there is a need for more focused training in the business travel arena.
“We believe that there are insufficient training opportunities for those who want to start or develop a career in business travel and so work carried out by organisations like the ITMis very welcome.”
ITMchairman Ian Hall said:”The course will focus on business travel operations and administration from a corporate perspective. It will be ideal for training and research for those employed within a corporate travel office or business travel management company.”
