Fjord Line invests £500,000 in Anite’s CarRes bookings system

FJORD Line has invested £500,000 on Anite’s new CarRes reservation system that will allow it to offer on-line bookings for the first time.

The new system, which replaces an in-house reservations system, is being installed this month, with on-line reservations expected to be possible by early next summer.

Anite Travel’s business development manager Tony Hird said: “The on-line booking capability was a major reason for Fjord Line’s choice, but CarRes is also very flexible and can be expanded as the business grows.”

The ferry operator carries a total of 400,000 passengers a year between its two routes, from Newcastle to Bergen in Norway and from Bergen to Hanstholm in Denmark. Fjord Line project manager Lise Brudvik said:”We were looking for an e-commerce provider with a modern ferry passenger and cargo booking solution than can handle our electronic booking needs now and in the future.”

Fjord Line is only the second company to install the year-old CarRes system, which is used by Baltic ferry operator EstLine operating between Sweden and Estonia.
