Network supplier responds to agents calls for a quicker service

X-TANT meets demand for Traveleye changes

Report by LEE WINTER

X-TANThas made its Internet-based booking system Traveleye quicker to use in response to calls from travel agents.

The system, which was first launched in June, can now be navigated using the computer keyboard as well as the mouse. The innovation was introduced following feedback from agents, who believe that using the keyboard will let them move around and switch between options more speedily.

Traveleye product manager Peter Whittle said: “Some of the feedback from the first version was that a lot of agents were used to using viewdata and preferred to use the keyboard rather than a mouse.”

X-TANT has also added links to Web sites such as car-hire broker Holiday Autos, airport car-park operator BCP and travel insurance company moneyextra-insurance.com.

A brochure ordering system and a 24-hour travel news service have been added and existing features such as the destination weather reports section and credit/debit-card authorisation facility have been improved. The changes, which are due to take effect on September 27, are the latest in a rolling programme with further announcements expected before the end of the year.

X-TANT has signed around 300 agencies up to Traveleye so far and it is hoping to reach 500 by the end of the year. The network supplier recently struck a deal offering cheap-rate access to Traveleye to ARTAC Worldchoice’s 800 members (Travel Weekly September 4).

The Traveleye revamp comes a week after rival Telewest announced a major overhaul of its Internet-based booking system Endeavour.
