Tropical Locations condemnsfly-on-the-wall documentaries
UPMARKET operator Tropical Locations has blamed fly-on-the-wall documentaries for tarnishing the image of the Caribbean.
Managing director David Kevan said Mauritius has picked up business at the expense of the Caribbean and predicted the trend will continue next year.
Launching the operator’s 2001 brochure, Kevan also revealed that of 10 hotels dropped next year, most are in the Caribbean.
“We felt they had become too middle market,” he said. “Mauritius on the other hand has played the exclusive upmarket card superbly.
“It has taken a good share of business away from the Caribbean which now has a rather mixed image not helped by some rather dubious fly-on-the-wall documentaries.”
New to the programme is The Philippines and China. Almost 40 hotels have been added across the programme with additional properties in Bali, where six are new and in Dubai where two have been added.
Prices in Dubai start from £590 for five nights.
