Survey shows telephone as top choice for non-retail bookings
TELEPHONEbookings acc-ounted for 77% of non-retail travel business last year, a survey has revealed.
Researchers AC Neilson sent questionnaires out to 7,000 participants, who were asked what method they used to book their holiday for the previous year.
The remaining 23% of business came via the Internet and digital television.
The survey also revealed that 75% of holidaymakers who used the Internet to research and book their summer break did so at the last minute. Young affluent professionals in their late 20s earning more than £30,000 a year were responsible for 83% of that totalnumber.
The survey was conducted in May.
Meanwhile, in a separate study ebookers.com and thomascook.co.uk were voted as the two most popular UK travel sites for this summer.
Thomascook.co.uk recorded 292,104 hits during July followed by ebookers.com with 288,840 recorded visitors.
