* argo clients stuck
Greece operator Argo Holidays had clients stranded on several islands last week following the ferry disaster near Paros. Argo managing director Mathilde Robert said some holidaymakers had refused to board a ferry returning to Athens. Arrangements were being made to fly them back to the UK.
* sea Containers hike
Sea Containers has increased fares on its SeaCat, SuperSeaCat and Hoverspeed services by £2 per single ticket to cover the rising cost of fuel. Other operators say they have no immediate plans to follow suit.
* lunn poly survey
LunnPoly is holding a meeting this week to discuss the findings of its staff survey launched last month. The monthly anonymous surveys, Your Views, follow complaints about unfair pay, inflexible lunch breaks and understaffed agencies. They will gleam information from a cross-section of staff (see Workplace, page 66). The second batch of surveys are due to go out this month.
* worldspan lawsuit
Worldspan has started legal proceedings in the US against rival global distribution system supplier Sabre. Worldspan is seeking compensation from Sabre because of its part in the breakdown of a marketing agreement with Singapore-based computer system Abacus in 1998.
* aer lingus strategy
Aer Lingus Group is to introduce electronic ticketing, on-line booking, corporate portals and extranets as part of new e-commerce plans. The first phase will get under way in November with the launch of a Web site.
