New £250 million base for World Travel Market

WORLD Travel Market
is set to move across London from its current base at Earls Court to Docklands.

The move will take
place in 2002 when a £250 million purpose-built conference centre is completed.
Once built, the ExCel conference centre will accommodate 65,000 square metres
of column-free exhibition space with seminar and function rooms.

WTM bosses decided to
move after talks with exhibitors.

WTM advisory council
chairman Lord Oxfuird said: “ExCel will be the largest and most sophisticated
venue in London. It is the kind of cutting edge facility WTM and the many loyal
exhibitors and visitors need if the event is to continue building on its
successful track record for effective business.”
