Gatwick services back to normal

Report by John Lavabre

NORMAL operations have been
resumed at Gatwick Airport following its closure last night.

The airport was shut for three
hours when a Britannia jet, a Boeing 767 300, slid off the taxiway and became
stuck in mud at 7.50pm. The aircraft was carrying 147 passengers and 11 crew.

Nobody was hurt in the incident,
although serious disruption was caused to flights.

A spokeswoman for the airport
commented: “Obviously there were knock on effects this morning, but they seem
to have resolved themselves. All is well again now.”
