Grand UK Holidays identifies over-55s short-break trend
THE OVER-55s are following the industry trend and taking more short breaks, according to Grand UK Holidays.
The Norwich-based operator, which specialises in holidays for the older market, has catered for the demand by adding more shorter duration breaks to its 2001 brochure.
Sales director Harold Burke said: “While eight-day tours remain as popular as they have always been, many clients are now taking three or four holidays a year.
“It is stimulating growth in the short-break market.”
New next year are five-day tours exploring the gardens of Wales, Shropshire and the Yorkshire Dales. Featured for the first time are air-inclusive holidays to Scotland, with eight-day tours leading in at £429.
“Our air programme to Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands continue to flourish and adding Scotland was a natural development,” said Burke.
In Europe, the operator has added the Treasures of Tuscany tour and Alpine Adventures based around Flims and Zermatt.
In its Prestige collection, where door- to-door transport is included, a 14-day trip to New England in the fall has been added, along with a seven-night cruise covering Norway and The Fjords.
