Festival offers new ship for 2001 Med itineraries

Report by Kirsten Bowling

FESTIVALCruises has used the launch of its 2001 cruise programme to introduce its new ship European Vision.

The 58,600-tonne vessel will begin one-week Greek Island and Turkey Aegean Sea cruises from June 2001. Sailing out of Marseilles, European Vision will also call at Genoa and Naples, with prices from £930 per person. A selection of party nights will also feature on board, including Christmas and New Year, Halloween, Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras.

Festival plans to add another new ship, the Mistral, next year. Festival Cruises managing director UKGraham Smith said:”As we are adding newly built ships to our fleet it will enable us to position the brand at the top of the four-star league of cruising.”

New itineraries include a seven-day cruise around the Baltic calling at Copenhagen, Stockholm, St Petersberg, Tallin and Kiel aboard the Flamenco. Prices start at £770 per person.

Early-booking discounts of up to 20% are available on the Azur, Bolero and Flamenco. There will also be a 15% reduction on the Mistral and European Vision.

The 783-cabin European Vision includes a large theatre covering two floors, a disco with a sea view, a golf simulator and conference and business centre.
