* BAto host seminars on new payment scheme
British Airways is to host a range of seminars in conjunction with ABTA’s regional meetings to tell agents more about its payment scheme. The country-wide meetings have been set for January and February next year. BA head of UK and Ireland sales Tiffany Hall said: “The more we tell agents, the more likely they are to support us.” BA will be sending agents details of the latest payment scheme update in the next few weeks.
* hilton international makes promotions
Hilton International Hotel Group has appointed Mike Ashton to the post of senior vice-president marketing and Tim Davis as senior vice-president, distribution and e-commerce. Ashton joined Hilton last year as vice-president marketing UK following the takeover of Stakis. Davis was previously Hilton’s vice-president marketing for Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
* northwest airlines sees revenue boost
Northwest Airlines reported a £141.7 million net income for the three months ending September 30 – a 15%increase compared to last year’s results. Passenger revenue was up 11.9%, which resulted in an 8.6% improvement in revenue per available seat mile and a 5.9% improvement in yield. Total operating revenue for the third quarter grew by £229.4 million, up 11.8% compared to last year.
* delta invests £1.1BN in jfk airport expansion
Delta is spending £1.1 billion on a terminal expansion at New York’s JFK airport. The project will be finished in 2004.
