Name of operator: Austria Travel.

Where is it based: Upminster, Essex.

History: established in the early ’80s and bought in June 1999 by the Travel Club of Upminster.

The product: holidays include city breaks to Vienna, Salzburg, Prague, Graz and Budapest and a selection of two and three-centre destinations. There are also Danube cycling tours, self-catering Carinthian farmhouses and tailor-made holidays to numerous Austrian resorts. The company’s competitively priced flights and flydrive arrangements can be booked separately or in conjunction with a choice of tailor-made breaks giving the freedom to create personal itineraries.

How much business comes via agents? Less than 5% but keen to grow this area of business.
