The Mexico Tourism Promotion Board has appointed Axis Sales and Marketing to devise a UK public relations programme. Meanwhile the board is also planning a consumer and trade advertising campaign to begin next April.

Refurbishment work on the 454-room Melia Mexico Reforma is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Spanish chain Sol Melia has invested $6 million in the Mexico City hotel which it acquired last year.

A delegation of representatives from Baja California North visited the UK this month in a bid to raise the profile of the desert state on Mexico’s Pacific peninsular.
