Resort promotes new multi-centre itineraries
WORLD Travel Market exhibitors representing US Eastern Seaboard destinations will get a strong ally this year in the seaside resort of Atlantic City in New Jersey.
Already a major gaming and entertainment centre in the east, the resort wants to promote its water sports, shopping and golfing facilities as part of new multi-centre itineraries that include cities such as New York and Philadelphia.
Branded America’s Favourite Playground, the city is also being marketed as an ideal stopover as part of a wider campaign represented in the UK by London-based Interface International.
Speros Batistatos, president and chief executive officer of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority, will be attending WTM for the first time along with a strengthened delegation.
To help boost its efforts, the ACCVA is launching a joint venture scheme at WTM to entice operators to include the destination in their next brochures.
Unijet is introducing Atlantic City to its Worldwide brochure while Kuoni is planning joint promotions with the destination. In conjunction with US Airways, Atlantic City hosted its first UK tour operator trip to the resort during the recent annual Miss Pageant Weekend in a bid to stimulate interest in the destination.
