Starwood joins Worldspan hotel system
STARWOOD Hotels and Resorts has joined Worldspan’s Integrated Hotel Source Availability system.
The chain has followed Marriott, which signed up to the system in May.
The technology gives agents using Worldspan as their preferred global distribution system supplier, direct access to the hotel chain’s internal reservation systems.
The reservation system gives agents access to up-to-date information on current room availability.
Starwood’s brands include Sheraton, Westin, the Luxury Collection, St Regis, Four Points and W Hotels.
News on two other hotel chains joining the Integrated Hotel Source Availability system is expected before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Worldspan has also added two new staff to its e-commerce team.
Rupert Stocker becomes e-commerce manager business to consumer, while Ewan Gibson takes on the role of e-commerce manager business to business. Both are internal moves.
Meanwhile the hotel group has put its CIGA portfolio up for sale.
Reports claim the 25 luxury properties, bought in 1997, could fetch up to $1.3 billion.
