Holy Land specialists advise agents to gen up on Israel
Agents need to be more aware of the situation in Israel before they advise travellers about their holidays, according to Holy Land specialists.
Tour operators are still offering refunds for people booked on packages to Jerusalem but Longwood managing director Rafi Caplin said the tourist areas in the holy city are safe.
“We have seen a drop in our number of bookings and we need more support from agents. The situation on the ground is different to what people believe. If agents are in any doubt then they can contact us,” he said.
Longwood is still operating tours to Israel and said it had thousands of people travelling to Eilat during half-term week.
However Peltours has been more cautious.Marketing manager Darren Panto said: “We have cancelled tours up until November 10 but this may be extended. We are also offering refunds to people booked on Holy Land tours before November 10.”
