Agencies must reconsider ties with direct-sell operations

I am surprised to hear that John Jackson has only just decided to bin his Virgin brochures. We came to the conclusion a long time ago that both Virgin and British Airways Holidays were more interested in dealing with customers directly than through our agency. (Travel Weekly December 20)

Come on, fellow agents, we are in this job to make money not to provide free brochure distribution for direct sell. We are only providing a whip for our own backs if we do not monitor very carefully which companies to deal with. If independent agents had a more positive racking and selling policy, BAwould not now even be considering cutting our commission.
