Report by John Lavabre
MIDLANDS Co-op Travel is to acquire independent agency
Tomorrows World Travel for an undisclosed sum as part of its expansion plan.
The purchase will see Midlands Co-op increase its number of
retail outlets in the Midlands from 85 to 96.
The shops will continue trading as Tomorrows World and all
the existing staff will be kept, although chairman and chief executive Ken Boot
will no longer be involved with the business.
In July (Travel Weekly July 24), Tomorrows World
managing director George Reynolds, who has described the deal as “positive”, denied
touting the chain around the market but admitted potential buyers had
approached the shops, among them Thomson owned Travel House and Let’s Go Travel.
