JMC blames hoteliers for Balearics price rises

Report by Steve Jones

JMC has blamed property owners in the Balearics for sparking
a sales crisis on the islands and sending holiday prices through the roof.

The operator said it was being held to ransom by hotel and
apartment owners who have increased rates by up to 35%.

In some cases, families will have to pay an additional £120
for their summer holiday, according to JMC.

Hotel Federation of Majorca managing director managing
director Antonio Munar said: The market is flat but this is not due to
hoteliers raising their prices.

“A handful of hotels in Minorca have upgraded their facilities
which has led to an increase in prices but overall the average rise is only 2%”.
