P&ONSF to drop economy cabins
P&O North Sea Ferries is getting rid of its economy cabins and reclining seats in a major refurbishment of two ships.
The £7 million project to upgrade Norsea and Norsun, which operate the Hull-Rotterdam route, will start in April, when the ferry operatortakes delivery of the Pride of Rotterdam.
This new ship is being built in Italy and was launched in Venice last month. It willhold 1,360 passengers and 250 vehicles.
Account manager Jim Pybus said all the cabins on the new ship will have en-suite facilities so the refurbishment is aimed at bringing the company’s existing ferries up to the same standard.
None of the economy cabins on Norsea and Norsun have private facilities.
As the Pride of Rotterdam does not have reclining seats, they are also being removed from the existing ferries.
As part of the project, Norsea and Norsun will each have a new 80-seat à la carte restaurant and wine bar. The buffet restaurant will also be renewed.
