Give Manny chance to hear your grievances
Give Manny chance to hear your grievances
Over the past few weeks we’ve been inundated with letters from Thomas Cook managers. The majority have complained about pay and conditions, while a small number have supported the company.
Our bulging postbag shows we are the paper that agents turn to when they have issues and I believe we should give agents the chance to air their views.
We also have to consider whether the complaints represent the general feeling in the company or the voice of a small but vocal minority.
We felt the best way to serve agents was to thrash out the issues with retail managing director Manny Fontenla-Novoa and he was willing to co-operate.
If our readers are unhappy, we should do something positive to help, as well as reporting their grievances.
Fontenla-Novoa’s job is to increase profits for Thomas Cook retail which inevitably means making somedecisions that may not be popular with all of the company’s employees.
But he does come across as a reasonable person and has promised to listen to anyone who has genuine grievances.
I think he at least deserves to be taken up on thatoffer. In the meantime, Travel Weekly welcomes the opinions of travel agents throughout the UKand is here to represent their views.
