De Vere invests £13m in Tyneside property

DE VERE Hotel Group is investing £13 million in a Village Leisure Hotel to open on North Tyneside in spring 2002.

The four-star Village Newcastle will have 127 bedrooms, restaurants and meeting rooms plus an extensive leisure complex. Facilities include a heated pool, sauna and steamroom.

De Vere has 12 Village Leisure Hotels in the UK and work has started on the 13th – Village Bury in north Manchester. ADe Vere spokesman said the Village Newcastle would take advantage of its proximity to Newcastle’s Cobalt Business Park.

“We want to attract a leisure market but are also looking to target corporate clients because of the number of international companies nearby,” he said.
