Cruise specialist adds Nile itinerary for 2001

Report by KIRSTENBOWLING

RIVER and coastal cruise specialist Travel Renaissance has reintroduced its Nile cruise itinerary to its 2001 brochure.

The Egypt programme was dropped three years ago after 61 tourists were shot by terrorists near Luxor.

The operator’s new nine-day Treasure of the Nile tour on The Nile Beauty calls at Cairo, Luxor, Karnak,Valley of The Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae and Aswan with prices leading in at £969 per person.

The brochure also features more itineraries on the Rhine, Danube, Rhône and Italy’s River Po, as well as the Yangtze in China where it has three ships, Princess Jeannie, Princess Elaine and Princess Shena.

These will be sailing from Beijing, with visits to the Forbidden City and the Great Wall as well as calls at Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Sales director Michael Flanagan said: “The Yangtze is the third largest river in the world and this is a great chance for people to be able to experience the scenery.”

Travel Renaissance has also included a three-night taster cruise on the Rhine.

“This is ideal for new cruisers,” Flanagan said. “The aim is to give them an idea about what a longer river cruise might be like before they actually book it.”

The three-night cruise operates from Frankfurt to Cologne with calls at Rudesheim, Koblenz, Alken and Cochem. Prices lead in at £495 per person.

Flanagan added that the brochure has been redesigned to make it more user friendly for agents and customers.

“On each page there is a panel with prices, itineraries, excursions and what the cost of the cruise includes, so they do not have to flick between different parts of the brochure,” Flanagan said.
