Mascarenhas has expressed his dismay at the results of a survey that shows many
independent travel agents are merely offering their clients the cheapest deals
instead of a high-quality service.
The operator mystery-shopped 18 independents and found that only one
offered an alternative to the cheapest deal.
He said many independents had branded Thomson “too expensive”
even though a price had not been discussed.
The
survey adds weight to Thomson’s plan to drop 10% of its Preferred Agents for
not hitting targets.
