OPERATORS
have warned Kenya it will lose business following its controversial decision to
reintroduce a £35 tourist visa charge.
The Kenyan
Government waived the fee in 1999 after a series of disasters plunged its
tourist industry into turmoil. But after steady growth officials have now
restored the charge.
Initially,
Kenyan authorities said the fee would come into effect immediately but pressure
from operators has delayed the start until March 1 although they are still in
negotiations to have it put back until July 1.
