HOLIDAY Autos has asked the Government to investigate companies that it claims are offering misleading prices for car hire.
Chairman and chief executive Clive Jacobs said on-line companies, such as EasyJet’s EasyRentaCar, which claims it will offer car hire for £9 a day, could confuse the public by advertising low prices that turn out not to be good deals.
He said: “Established car-rental companies have fully inclusive prices but many on-line companies show prices which do not include tax, insurance or unlimited mileage.”
However, EasyRentaCar chairman Stelios Haji-Ioannou said: “Our adverts will make it clear what we are going to be offering consumers.”
