Cosmos has reduced prices by an
average of 20% in its fourth edition brochure as it looks to claw back lost ground
in the peak booking season.
The move follows an admission by
managing director Nigel Wright that it had over-priced its third edition brochure
and lost sales to rivals in the crucial January campaigns.
Cosmos’ over-priced brochure, its
controversial policy of producing a dedicated, more cheaply-priced brochure for
Travelcare, and the level of directional selling by multiples, all contributed
to a 20% slide in sales, said Wright.
