Report by Lydia Wilson
Holiday Autos’ former group managing director Mick
Shires has left the company to set up his own consultancy business.
Shires cited a gruelling 150-mile round-trip commute
to Holiday Autos’ headquarters in Frimley, Surrey, as part of the “personal”
reasons for his departure, having taken the last two months off to plan his
next career move.
He plans to consult two days a week for
Holiday Autos, as well as launch his own business using expertise gained from
successfully expanding the car rental broker into Europe.
Meanwhile, Holiday Autos has appointed a
new UK and Ireland managing director. Douglas Sawers joins the leisure car
rental broker later this month from Budget UK, where he was managing director.
