NCL cancels more Canada cruises

NORWEGIAN Cruise Line was forced to cancel two more departures on Norwegian Sky after an accident off the coast of Canada which left a hole in its hull.

After seeing the extent of the damage, the cruiseline has now cancelled two Canada/New England itineraries departing last Friday and on October 18. The September 28 cruise had already been cancelled. (Travel Weekly October 4)

All of the 121 UK passengers booked on both cruises will get a refund and 25% off another cruise taken before September 2000. Travel agent commissions will be protected.

Those who rebook before the end of the year for selected dates in 1999 will also get a £60 per stateroom credit towards on-board spending.

NCL said credits issued for use on future cruises will cost the company around $3.5m, while the accident itself will cost around $2.5m in lost revenue.
