n JMC pleased with new name recognition



JMC said it was impressed by the number of visitors to the show who recognised the new name. Human resource manager Debbie Wilson said: “We are positively surprised by the number of applications we have been getting. I think it a lot to do with the TV ads.”



n Rail europe ‘hopeful’ about filling posts



Rail Europe, looking to fill 10 vacancies for its Waterloo call centre, reported a busy show. Training and human resource manager Mark Penney said: “I think Eurostar has shown that rail travel can be sexy. We had no problem recruiting.”



n first choices rep sketch hits right spot



First Choice’s sketch in the seminar programme,showing a day in the life of an overseas rep, proved a big hit. Retail trainingexecutive Melanie Freeman said:”We wanted to give the impression that the company is fun and innovative, and it was well received.”



n st austell college points to research



St Austell College travel studies co-ordinator Sally Butler said colleges should use Travel ’99 as an opportunity to go to the trade and find out what they are looking for instudents. “They want more focus on interview,customer service andtelesales skills, as well as more hands-on training,” she said.
