CYPRUS CAR ACCIDENT KILLS WALLACE MANAGER


The Wallace Arnold Travel Shop in Hull was closed last week after branch manager Margaret Salisbury was killed in a car crash while on holiday in Cyprus. Salisbury, 57, was in a car driven by her husband Michael, 54, with her sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and John Tucker, aged 61 and 63. All four were killed in the head-on collision. The Wallace Arnold agency in Hull closed immediately on Tuesday when news of the crash was reported to colleagues, and it stayed shut all day Wednesday.


SILVERSEA SIGNS RESIDENSEA DEAL


Silversea Cruises has signed a deal with ResidenSea to handle the sales and marketing for the world’s first ocean-going residence ship. The $262m vessel, The World, is scheduled for delivery in December 2001 and will have 110 privately owned “residences” which cost from $2m to $6.84m. It will also have 88 guest suites, which will be sold on the open market.


MEXICAN MINISTRY OF TOURISM TO OPEN SOON


The Mexican Ministry of Tourism opens its office in Wakefield House, 41 Trinity Square, London, on October 26. The ministry’s old office in Trafalgar Square has been closed and staff are operating temporarily out of the Mexican Embassy in London.


KEVIN TO JOIN BOARD OF CLUB TRAVEL 2000


Former Flying Colours group commercial director John Kevin is joining the board of Manchester-based Club Travel 2000 as inclusive holidays director. He has been on gardening leave from the airline since April. The move reunites Kevin with Club Travel 2000 marketing manager John Cooper, who was Flying Colours overseas general manager until 1996.
