Gay nightlife

Things don’t get started in Copenhagen until late, making it wise to have an evening meal before hitting the town. Food and drink are not cheap though, so it might be an idea to look out for ‘gay hours’ at the bars. Here’s just a few of the many options to choose from:

FOOD: a fine eatery in which to fortify yourself in for the night ahead is the newly opened Heaven Cafe. It’s a relaxed place offering everything from snacks to full meals. Alternatively, try the Queen Victoria, an established restaurant serving good food and owned by a drag queen.

DRINK: for a relaxing beer or coffee try hanging out at Sebastian’s bar. Dark and inviting, it’s set on two floors and provides all the necessary flyers, magazines and posters to keep you in touch with what’s going on around town. Many customers never seem to leave the bar, which could have something to do with the rather charming staff.

CLUBBING: a must is a visit to Pan, the biggest and best club in town. It has three floors playing everything from trashy 80s tunes to techno and dance. Once the Pan DJ has put Ms Minogue’s records away there’s still time for a last few relaxing drinks at the happening but dingy Cosy Bar.
