Cyprair should count the cost of offering a good service

My colleAgue was quoted a fare of £658 per person for two club-class tickets on Cyprus Airways to Larnaca with Cyprair Holidays. As it was such a good price, he double checked that the fare was correct and was assured it was.

The clients came in the next day to book. Cyprair refused to acknowledge the fare we had been given the day before, saying it didn’t exist. The only fare I was then offered was £774 each, which the clients grudgingly accepted.

About an hour later they returned to the office. Their friends in another part of the country had also booked the club-class seats with their agent using Cyprair. They cost £658 per person.

I called my contact at Cyprair and told her about the situation. She agreed to change it, adding that she must have mistakenly been looking at a different month. I wonder if Cyprair would have contacted us when it realised the clients had been overcharged by £116 each. If it wasn’t for their friends booking the same itinerary, we would never have found out about the fares. It would also have been nice to receive an apology for the mistake that cost us some lack of confidence from our clients, who joked that if they came in the next day, it might be £100 cheaper still!
