Sunquest brings back Bulgaria for 2002
BUDGET Turkey specialist Sunquest has reintroduced Bulgaria to its 2002 programme almost a decade after dropping the destination.
The move comes after significant investment in resorts and a revamp of properties. Flights from Gatwick and Manchester will depart weekly for Varna on the north coast with the resorts of Golden Sands, Albena and Saint Konstantin featured.
Sunquest general manager Paul Cowley said: “There has been a lot of private investment in the past three or four years and the product has been upgraded.”
In Turkey, Cowley is targeting sales of 70,000 in 2002. “The major operators are pegging back capacity but at the budget end it’s been OK,” he said.
Prices have risen by about 3%. Cowley said the early release of the brochure should attract more early sales.
“We are a late-booking operator and usually sell only 25% of our programme before Christmas. I hope the early launch will help us sell a third.”
