Tough trading forces capacity cut in Florida
THOMSON has trimmed capacity in Florida for 2002 after tough trading conditions.
The cost of fuel and the strength of the dollar has hit prices and deterred UK travellers from visiting the US.
Long-haul general manager Jeannette Linfoot said: “We have set capacity that we are comfortable with. When clients go to the Caribbean they are perhaps not aware of the currency fluctuations, but it’s very apparent when they go to the US that they will be affected.”
New to the programme is the Gold Coast with the Best Western Oceanside hotel offering twin-centre options with Orlando. Disney’s Pop Century hotels, which opens at the end of the year, have also been included. Long-stay holidays in winter have been added for the first time with prices starting at £879 for 35 nights.
