* ATC pulls out of wtm
The Australian Tourist Commission has pulled out of World Travel Market in November and instead decided to invest in agent workshops and a web version of its Aussie Specialist programme.
* carnival eyes europe
CarnivalCruise Lines is to deploy a ship in the Mediterranean in a bid to increase its share of the UK market. The ship will be deployed in late 2002or 2003.
* on-line additions
Cheapflights.com has added two sections to its website. Visitors can now purchase books, maps and luggage by visiting its new Travel Shop, while the Trip Planning section features advice on subjects including airport facilities, visas and deep-vein thrombosis.

Hoteliers in Devon and Cumbria have teamed up to run a website for people in the industry affected by the foot and mouth crisis. The site is aimed at creating a fighting fund to pay for legal advice on compensation and promoting businesses. The site is at: www.actionfootandmouth.co.uk.
* P&OSL new service

Rod Lynch, until recently chief executive of Olympic Airways, has been named as chief executive of visitscotland, formerly the Scottish Tourist Board. He was seconded to the Greek carrier from British Airways’ Speedwing consultancy.
