What is it? Covering 640 sq miles, Palm Springs Desert Resorts comprises eight cites including Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, La Quinta and Palm Springs. The destinations is renowned for its golfing but also has world-class spa facilities.


Where is it? Located in the Coachella Valley of the Californian desert and surrounded by lush mountain ranges. It is a 2hr drive from Los Angeles and 2hr 30mins from San Diego.


Number of hotels: 15,000 rooms in 200 hotels from boutique-style properties to luxury hotels like the 90-room Merv Griffin’s Resort and Givenchy Spa in Palm Springs. It also features large hotels like the Marriott Desert Spring Resort (980 rooms) in Palm Desert.


Getting there: there is an airport at Palm Springs so you can fly into a major city like Chicago or Dallas and get a connecting flight. Most people fly to LA and then pick up a hire car for the journey to the springs. This allows them to explore the surrounding areas.
