* thornton opens cruise-only branch in bath
Bristol-based Thornton’s Travel Service has opened its second dedicated cruise-only branch in Barton Street, Bath. Trading as Thornton’s Cruise World, it will join the existing Cruiseworld division based at the head office in Bristol.
* costa cuts the cost of four-night mini-cruise
Costa Cruises has cut the price of its four-night mini-cruise aboard Costa Marina on May 12 by £240. Prices, which include flights, lead in at £389 per person for two sharing an inside cabin compared to a brochure price of £630. The cruise will sail from Savona, Italy and calls at Barcelona, Palma and Port Mahon.
* Grand princess set for may 5 launch
P&OPrincess Cruises is preparing for the launch of Golden Princess on May 5. The $450 million ship recently completed its sea trials, and when it sails for its preview cruise from Southampton on May 10, it will be the largest cruise ship ever to sail from a UKport with paying passengers on board.
